Rachel's quilt

Hi, I have been improving my puzzle solving abilities making this one!
These were the fabrics and the pattern in the background. The pattern is "Speedwell Quilt" from a jelly roll book.

Cut into strips and sew into threes.

Sewn together. A bit of a puzzle putting it all together....only had to unpick one seam that I added upside down.

I intend putting a border on....maybe a white border.... then finish it off....with a bit of quilting and binding. That doesn't sound so hard. Ha ha ha

Round Tags

Happy Australia Day!
I want to share some tags that I made with the Big Shot and the largest round die and the embossing folders. All you have to do is fold your card in half, place the round die on top of the card but leave a space over the fold of the card to keep the back and the front of the card still attached.
Run the top of the card through the embossing folder of your choice and then simply decorate. I also ran the flower through the embossing folder for a cool texture.

Hope you all have a great Australia Day...a little overcast here so we are hoping that that wet stuff will fall from the sky.

Nicola's Quilt....

Hi there,
Another hot one here today outside, so it is really nice to sit in the air-conditioning after finishing off some cattle work and do this blog post. We had the vet out to do some preg. testing.
As promised this is the finished quilt for Nicola...ta da!!
I am still experimenting with my quilting. I did try to write Nicola on her quilt. I printed Nicola onto an A4 sheet of paper in a nice font and pinned that to the quilt. Then I stitched over the paper, then tore away the paper and I was left with the stitched Nicola in a cool font.  I think it looked great but the freemotion wavy line leading up to the Nicola was not too cool....a bit more practice is required!!
I also did some quilting in the ditch and some diagonal lines. I bound the quilt with the pink and it is backed with some yellow.

Here is the ever growing Nicola!!...with Ruby giving a loving cuddle!!
Nicola testing out her quilt at the coast with Miss R.
Now work has begun on Miss R's quilt for her bed. Miss R has chosen the colours. Will post some photo's soon.
Thanks for stopping by.

Which one's your favourite?

Hi There Everyone,
I am back from a wonderful stay at the Sunshine Coast. Just not long enough. The weater at the coast was amazing....32oC. Then we come home to a 40oC day and you really notice it.
Thank you so much Brooke for looking after our family dog and farm!!
Before I went away I was going to blog about these cards that I made......but blogger had different ideas. It is still being temperamental...so I had to go around the problem....Anyway here they are.

It is a little hard to see but the spotty black and white paper is flocked paper and feels great.
I like the colours in this card....odd but I think that it works.....

I love the cute little bow on this card.

Tried to make a manly card.

I am really into butterflies at the moment....and dot's as usual....
I will be back soon with a post about Nicola's quilt. Nicola got her quilt while we were at the coast. I think she liked it....a bit hard to tell.
Which is your favourite card? Leave me a comment, I'd love to hear from you.

No Picture Post....

Hi Everyone,
I am having a few isssues with adding photo's to my blog post's which is a real bummer because I have got lot's of things that I wanted to share with you before I head off on holidays.
I have been very busy finishing Nicola's quilt. (all that is left to do on the quilt is the hand stitching on the binding) Nicola may get her quilt this visit to the coast after all.
While the days are super hot I like to sit in the air-conditioning and do some cardmaking. So, I have been busy making a few cards to replenish my supply. I like to use up papers that I have got on hand before cracking open a new 6x6" paper pad. So that is what I have been doing while making these cards. (photo's to come soon)
At home I have been frantically watering my lawn and garden to save it from this heat and we moved the cattle to new paddock's so that everyone is happy while we are away.
Back Soon and hopefully with some pictures!!

First post for 2013....

Hi there and a very happy new year to everyone. I have been trying to be very productive on my holidays. I have finished Nicola's quilt top...see here in the top picture. The second picture was some trial and error with colours....I was going to use some brown from my stash and I had it all laid out then when I saw it the next morning I decided....not!! It was very busy and the brown made it very dark.

I have also been making some cards. My stash of cards is very, very low.
I love this cute bird....and it looks very elegant with the embossed white card for the background.

This card was made to use up some scrap paper. The flowers were altered using glimmer mist.....I didn't have the right colour flower so out come the glimmer mist for a very bold statement on the card.
It is hard to see in the picture but the flower does glimmer!!

 Another embossed background.....Stamped flowers......3D butterflies.....
More cards to show you all soon.
